The hotel lies in the popular Basmanny district, which has a mix of historical monuments and company offices. The Bolshoi Theatre is also nearby, as is the State Historical Museum and GUM store.
Style and Character
8 / 10
The hotel, designed by Jestico+Whiles, is thoroughly modern inside and out, from its white-painted façade to its colourful, designer interior. The rooms and public areas are slickly kitted out with designer furnishings by companies like Moroso, Ligne Roset and Zanotta, bold splashes of occasional colour (reds, purples, pinks), and additional eye candy from artists like the Pianophant sculpture in the lobby by French artist Guillaume Piechaud.
The Art Deco restaurant, by local designer Anton Gorlanov, is an equally stylish affair with hanging copper lamps, multi-coloured marble tiles on the floor, and breezy white-backed wooden chairs.
