Set inside a 34-storey building topped with a circular tower, the hotel makes for a dramatic skyline feature. It also offers a similarly impressive interior – especially the chic, light-filled lobby and associated café and lounge (Lightbar) across from reception, which were both renovated by Australian interior design firm Studioaria and feature Tom Dixon chairs and bronze statues, plus references to traditional Russian elements like the domes behind the reception desk.

The second-floor Acapella Restaurant & Lounge serves contemporary international cuisine (including a mean beef stroganoff with a side of mashed potatoes), which generally focuses on local, eco-friendly, organic and seasonal ingredients and modern cooking techniques. On the 34th floor is the City Space Bar & Restaurant, which matches an excellent wine and cocktail menu to jaw-dropping vistas and impressive dishes such as foie gras balls with teriyaki sauce and ginger brioche, and matcha green tea soup with smoked eel and gnocchi. And the lobby bar – ostensibly the main meeting point for the hotel – offers coffees, teas, desserts and snacks throughout the day and evening.
Breakfast is served in Acapella, and includes a generous breakfast spread with an array of cold cuts and warm dishes, oatmeal and pancakes, egg dishes and a selection of pastries, fruit juices and cereals.
